B9+ reaction to D9+ Key points
We welcome the key points mentioned during the D9+ Ministerial meeting of March 27, 2025 in Amsterdam.
Everyone present at the D9+/B9+ bilateral acknowledges that digital is a key enabler to our future prosperity.
Both D9+ and B9+ underscore the need to address internal hurdles to European competitiveness and to enable investment in foundational capacities in digital, while remaining open to trade, technology, ideas and people.
These foundational capacities include digital skills, research and development, ecosystems and infrastructure (compute capacity, connectivity and energy).
We must complete our single market by enabling an integrated capital market, reducing complexity and increasing coherence in the digital rulebook.
B9+ stands ready to continue partnering with the D9+ and the European Commission to lead the way forward.
The D9+ Group, established in 2016, is an informal alliance of Digital Ministers from likeminded and digitally progressive EU Member States. The D9+ countries include Spain, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden and Slovenia.
The B9+ Group is composed of the business confederations of 12 digitally advanced (D9+) Member States: CEOE (Spain), VBO-FEB (Belgium), SPCR (Czech Republic), DI (Denmark), EE (Estonia), EK (Finland), IBEC (Ireland), FEDIL (Luxembourg), VNO-NCW (Netherlands), LEWIATAN (Poland), CIP (Portugal) and Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Sweden).
The D9-B9 meeting was attended by EVP Virkkunen and discussed both the D9 and B9 statements.
